Prof. Dr. Reinhold Ewald (ENG)
After studying experimental physics at the University of Cologne, Dr. Reinhold Ewald was selected for the German Astronaut Team in 1990 and started training for the Russian/German missions to the space station MIR. In 1997 he spent 20 days in space as researcher/cosmonaut during the second German–Russian mission, Mir’97. In 1999 he joined the European Space Agency and became a member ESA‘s European Astronaut Corps at the European Astronaut Centre Cologne. He is currently a Professor for Astronautics and Space Stations at the Institute of Space Systems at the University of Stuttgart on secondment from ESA.
